Bibbs Cameron

Bibbs is a pioneering figure in history, travel, and cultural heritage. Her journey began with formative years in Egypt, followed by a year in Manhattan at 19. She embarked on her career in London, where she trained as a fashion buyer and later as a Training Air Stewardess, granting her firsthand exposure to diverse cultures. Bibbs then found her calling as a guide at The British Museum, where she shared the wonders of ancient Egyptian history with enthusiastic visitors.

Transitioning into the corporate realm, Bibbs co-founded a media technology business in the USA, assuming the role of Vice President. Building upon her extensive experience, she established Sacred Site Tours, a company that provides educational travel experiences to culturally significant sites across Europe.

Bibbs is deeply committed to preserving history and promoting cultural heritage. She previously served as the vice chairman of the Civic Society and was actively involved in the preservation of Darwin's home. Her dedicated efforts spanned years as she tirelessly worked to make Darwin's birthplace accessible to the public, envisioning it as a potential cultural center celebrating his life.

Additionally, Bibbs is a subscriber to the Darwin Birthplace Trust and currently holds the position of Secretary to STCRA in The Shrewsbury Loop. She also serves as a Steward and Guide at St Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, further demonstrating her passion for contributing to the community's heritage and enriching the cultural experiences of others.

Russell Game

Russell is a retired, dedicated history and politics teacher in Shropshire and is highly regarded for his work with the youth. He goes beyond the classroom to inspire and educate, as seen in his successful five-year in-depth presentation series, "The History Series," of Shrewsbury.

Russell's ability to engage and captivate his audience with his in-depth exploration of Shrewsbury's history is evident.

During his university years, Russell studied German in Germany, showcasing his curiosity about different cultures and languages. This experience broadened his perspective and deepened his understanding of the interconnectedness of history and global affairs.

Russell's recent appointment as Secretary on the board of U3a, the University of the Third Age, demonstrates his ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and education. Through this role, he promotes understanding and social engagement among older adults, emphasizing his dedication to intellectual growth and community well-being.

Russell's involvement as a trustee of The Civic Society and his co-founding of Shrewsbury Historica highlight his commitment to preserving and promoting the town's heritage. These positions involve actively participating in initiatives that protect historical buildings, raise awareness of local history, and foster a sense of pride in the community's heritage.

Finally, as a lifelong supporter of Shrewsbury Town, Russell possesses extensive knowledge of the town's sporting history, adding to his impressive understanding of Shrewsbury's past. His attention to detail is evident in his familiarity with the town's inns and his ability to uncover lesser-known aspects of its historical narrative.

In conclusion, Russell's passion for history, dedication to education, and active involvement in preserving and promoting Shrewsbury's heritage make him a valuable asset to the community and a respected figure in local history.

A bespoke stained glass tour of St Mary’s Church Shrewsbury

Good evening Bibbs,

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for a wonderful and informative tour yesterday. The volunteers had a fantastic time and enjoyed every minute of it! I really appreciate you taking time to share your knowledge of the church.

Warmest wishes,

Diane Spencer writes,

Not sure quite why I find history talks quite so enlivening however they do seem to have that effect. Talk by Russell today on Shropshire castles, he managed to squeeze in Clun, Hopton, Whittington, Oswestry, Ludlow and Shrewsbury Castles. I drove home singing along to Black Keys loudly and undoubtedly singing the wrong words in places, but very happily 😊 Roll on the next talk.
